The young John Craxton depicts himself in this drawing, created whilst living in Pembrokeshire but yearning for the Mediterranean. The over-large-footed-and-handed figure shows the influence of Picasso whose newly completed Guernica he had seen at the Paris International Exhibition in 1937.
