Young talent in Woking – A-level students join The Ingram Collection

THE INGRAM COLLECTION ACQUIRES NEW WORK FROM WOKING COLLEGE

Chris Ingram – who grew up in Woking – was so impressed by the standard of work when he visited the College’s end of year show at The Lightbox that he chose several pieces to join our Collection.

The Woking College works acquired by The Ingram Collection are:

Genderbent (2014), by Jodie Adnitt, oil on canvas, 122 x 181 cm
Chrissy (2014), by Claudia Rietti, oil on canvas, 200 x 150cm
New Messiah (2014), by Amber Ruske, photograph with Photoshop, 25.5 x 38 cm
Commenting, Chris Ingram said: “Having visited many of the London Degree Shows, I was struck by the talent evident amongst the young students at Woking. These three works, in particular, leapt out at me; the artists show a level of accomplishment that belies their young years.”
“I am delighted that these artists are now represented in The Ingram Collection, and look forward to seeing their careers flourish.”
Ali Mirmak, Head of Art, Woking College, said: “We are incredibly proud of Josie, Amber and Claudia and their achievements this year. It is a real honour for us that their work is to become part of such a prestigious collection; one that contains so many pieces by well-known British artists. We hope that this is just the start for these young, talented and, above all, local talents.”

Artist Claudia Rietti said: “It was an amazing surprise to find out that my painting was to be part of The Ingram Collection. It’s fantastic as my work will be displayed among many well-known artists and will be seen by a variety of people. I couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity.”
