Geoffrey Clarke’s Square World, a series of 5 aluminium reliefs purchased by The Ingram Collection in 2014, is the subject of a recent article by Claire Turner in Art and Christianity, the quarterly journal of Art & Christianity Enquiry (Issue No. 81, Spring 2015).
Claire Turner is Priest in Charge of St Chad’s, Rubery, the church for which the series was originally commissioned in 1959, and her article considers Clarke’s work in the context of its commission, installation, and the subsequent decision of the then Diocesan Advisory Committee to remove the reliefs before the church was consecrated.
We are very pleased to be in discussion with St Chad’s at the moment about the possibility of loaning Square World back to them in the near future.
