London-raised Ruskin Spear’s paintings reveal a feeling for place and atmosphere reminiscent of his hero, the English Impressionist painter Walter Sickert. Because Spear used a wheelchair due to childhood polio, much of his work focused on his immediate surroundings. Many of his paintings, such as this one, reflect the views, scenery and people of Hammersmith.
