This painting by Charles Ginner explores the subject areas of landscape and the urban environment. Ginner was a member of the Camden Town Group, so this work joins those by other members Augustus John and Henry Lamb. This rural composition of a tree in winter against a distant landscape with houses shows his great attention to detail and the luminosity of the paint dictates the painting’s overall mood. His interest in Post-Impressionist painting comes through strongly in his work.
