D. Farr and E. Chadwick, Lynn Chadwick Sculptor, Oxford, 1990 (no. CR384, p. 186)
In his work Lynn Chadwick explored the mysteries of the human condition. He said that art ‘is the manifestation of some vital force coming from the dark, caught by the imagination and translated by the artist’s ability and skill’. The poet, literary and art critic, Herbert Read, described Chadwick’s work as ‘toys armed with vicious teeth and claws’.
