Woking, The Lightbox, Not all contemporary art is rubbish! The Ingram Collection, 2 February – 10 April 2016
This work is inspired by Agatha Christie’s 1920s legendary Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot. The wooden lolly sticks forces the viewer to recall the innocence of childhood, whilst making sense of the multiple miniature drawings of people set in a more adult and sinister realm of murder, death and horror. One spends a few moments negotiating what ‘time’ it really is. Working predominantly with felt pen and paint on wood, she moves on to manipulate her work further digitally, producing richly layered and meaningful art.
