The Curious Cat makes a fine partner to the painting Cat on a Roof . The subject is again domestic, and painted with the sensitivity to surface that Walter Sickert achieved, a painter whom Spear held in great regard. His handling of paint is impressionistic and in this work the warm colours of the flowers sing against the cooler grey tones of the interior.
