A painter and designer, Riley is one of the most celebrated exponents of Op art. She studied at Goldsmiths’ College 1949-52 and at the Royal College of Art 1952-5. In 1968, she won the International Painting Prize at the Venice Biennale. Her interests in optical effects came partly through her study of the Neo-Impressionist technique
