A painter and printmaker, Auerbach was sent to England from Germany as a refugee by his Jewish parents in 1939. He studied at St Martin’s School of Art 1948-52, the Royal College of Art 1952-5 and Borough Polytechnic under David Bomberg 1947-53. His work was the subject of a major Arts Council exhibition in 1978.
