William Roberts was a part of a radical art movement known as Vorticism in the early twentieth century. The Vorticists embraced modernity. The movement was seen as an independent alternative to cubism. The art movement was characterized by bold geometric shapes and colours. Vorticism was short lived due to the horrors of the First Wolrd War.
