A pair with Roads, this work was commissioned by the United Steel Companies Ltd for their advertisement series ‘The New Horizon’. This was no. 6 (metallurgy) for Aviation and Aeronautical Engineering in the Architectural Review, December 1943, vol. 47. Painted at a time when the battle for the world was being fought in the skies over Europe, this work envisages a future with a conveyer belt of aircraft each filled with travellers.
