The title of this study, Warrior Birds, is indicative of the military references in many of Frink’s depictions of birds. Experiencing childhood during the Second World War, Frink’s home in Suffolk was surrounded by air stations. She witnessed a number of air crashes, which may be what the fighting of these two warrior birds represents.
